Naturopath Multiple Sclerosis Care in Edmonton

Dr. Muradov has expertise in Alternative Multiple Sclerosis care

We consider a wide range of areas and intermix standard and natural therapies for Multiple Sclerosis.

We focus on inflammation management, dietary augmentation, neuroprotective strategies & symptom relief .

Our strategy is to employ numerous anti-inflammatory dietary strategies and look for environmental MS triggers.

A combination of standard and alternative care gets our patients results.

Lastly, we offer IV options for symptom management and neurodegeneration prevention.

Naturopath MS Treatment in Edmonton

Our MS approach

We look at Molecular Mimicry, Bystander activation and Toxicants such as heavy metals and organic solvents as well as mold toxicity in the context of autoimmunity.

Dietary changes include: Low Fat (Swank), Gluten and Dairy Free, Ketogenic, Fasting or FMD, Wahls, Low Lectin, and also consider individual dietary triggers as found on Food Sensitivity Testing.

Prescriptions such as LDN (low dose naltrexone), Acyclovir, Doxycycline, and Lithium are often suggested by our Naturopathic Doctors through referrals to collaborative Health Professionals in Edmonton.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that Low Doses Naltrexone not only prevents relapses in MS but also reduces the progression of the disease.

LDN has a low cost and one-pill once daily administration make it an attractive option for long term use in MS patients

LDN has been evaluated in a small trial that indicated improved health perception scores after 17 weeks.

Environmental Triggers

Our Naturopathic Doctors offer infection screening: Viruses, Bacteria & Yeast as potential relapse triggers.

EBV, HHV-6, Candida, and Chlamydia Pneumoniae and Borrelia Burgdorferi are infectious agents our Naturopaths screen for in MS at our Edmonton Clinic.

We also do microbiome analysis in our MS patients.

With advanced stool PCR testing included  such as the GIEffects Test, our Naturopaths look for common trends found in our Edmonton MS patients such as.

Low Acidophilus, elevated Candida, low Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Clostridia and Bacteroidetes and elevated Methanobrevibacter, Akkermansia and Ruminococcus.

Genetic analysis, Heavy Metal Testing, Oral Chelation & Detoxification & Intravenous therapies are all considered by our Naturopaths.

Evidence exists that in some MS patients mercury (or other heavy metal exposures) may make neuronal tissues appear foreign to the immune system (or can worsen existing neurological symptoms)

So we do consider this in Multiple Sclerosis patients with suggestive occupational or dental exposures.

Infectious Testing

Advanced Therapies

IV Therapy has proven to be effective in some patients for: acute relapses, fatigue, cognition and in some cases mobility. Some of our newer long format IVs may have a role in preventing neurodegeneration seen in progressive MS.

We do offer some intramuscular injection options that can be done at home.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy has a long history of use in MS and may be of benefit for regaining or sustaining neurological function. For instance, Fischer (1983) studied 40 patients with advanced MS who were divided into two groups and treated at 2.0 ATA for 90 minutes for twenty treatments.

Objective improvement (mobility, fatigue, balance and bladder function) occurred in 12 of 17 patients treated with hyperbaric oxygen and in 1 of 20 patients treated with placebo.

Improvement was transient in seven and long-lasting in five.
