Glutathione IV Therapy & Glutathione Injections in Edmonton

Aesthetic and Antioxidant-Based Skin Therapy at TruMed Naturopathic Clinic

At TruMed in Edmonton, we offer both Glutathione IV therapy and Glutathione Injections as part of our advanced aesthetic and wellness protocols. These treatments are designed to promote skin brightening, improve complexion clarity, and support cellular detoxification and dermatologic health through scientifically grounded intravenous nutrient therapy.

Under the clinical direction of Dr. Eric Muradov, our naturopathic clinic integrates evidence-based antioxidant strategies to help patients achieve healthier, more radiant skin with a focus on cellular function, pigment modulation, and oxidative stress reduction.

The Role of Glutathione in Skin Health and Aesthetics

Glutathione is a tripeptide composed of glutamate, cysteine, and glycine and is the most abundant intracellular antioxidant in human cells. It plays a central role in:

• Neutralizing reactive oxygen species (ROS)

• Supporting phase I and II detoxification pathways

• Regulating melanogenesis through tyrosinase inhibition

• Maintaining immune homeostasis and inflammatory control

When administered intravenously, reduced glutathione (GSH) enters systemic circulation and delivers potent antioxidant and anti-melanogenic activity directly to tissues. Glutathione IV therapy is particularly sought after for its skin-brightening effects, which have been documented in both clinical observation and published studies.

Clinical Application of Glutathione IV Therapy in Cosmetic Medicine

At TruMed, our cosmetic IV therapy protocols pair Glutathione IV drips with high-dose intravenous Vitamin C, which helps recycle oxidized glutathione and enhances overall antioxidant capacity. This two-step infusion process includes:

1. Vitamin C Infusion to elevate plasma antioxidant levels

2. Glutathione IV administration in a separate dedicated bag

Our Naturopathic Doctors often employ moderate to high-dose protocols depending on the individual’s aesthetic goals, skin phototype, and detoxification capacity. Treatments typically last 30–45 minutes and may be initiated at the time of initial consultation.

Mechanisms of Skin Brightening: The Science Behind Glutathione

Glutathione exerts its skin-brightening effects through inhibition of tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for the conversion of L-tyrosine to melanin. In doing so, it not only decreases eumelanin (darker pigment) synthesis but also encourages the production of pheomelanin, resulting in a lighter, more uniform skin tone over time.

Clinical Evidence Supporting Glutathione in Cosmetic Dermatology

A number of peer-reviewed studies support the efficacy of glutathione in improving skin tone and overall skin quality:

✧ 2012 Randomized Controlled Trial (Thailand)

Participants who received oral glutathione for 4 weeks showed statistically significant reductions in melanin index across multiple anatomical sites, demonstrating visible skin-lightening outcomes.

✧ 2017 Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study

Subjects were randomized to receive reduced glutathione, oxidized glutathione, or placebo over 12 weeks. Both glutathione groups experienced decreased pigmentation, improved skin elasticity, and reduction in fine wrinkles, supporting both its aesthetic and anti-aging properties.

These outcomes support the growing use of glutathione injections and IV therapy in cosmetic medical practice.

Nutritional Optimization of Glutathione Synthesis

To further support and sustain glutathione activity between IV sessions, our protocols often incorporate key micronutrient cofactors and precursors, including:

• N-acetylcysteine (NAC): Cysteine donor for endogenous glutathione synthesis

• Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid): Enhances intracellular GSH recycling

• Riboflavin (B2): Essential for glutathione reductase function

• Pantothenic Acid (B5): Involved in CoA production and detox pathways

• Methylcobalamin (B12): Supports redox status and detoxification

• Selenium: Required cofactor for both glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase

In some cases, oral alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) may be recommended for its ability to regenerate intracellular antioxidants and support mitochondrial health.

Cosmetic IV Treatment Schedule

At TruMed, our glutathione IV therapy is typically administered 1–2 times per week for 4–6 weeks, depending on the patient’s goals and Fitzpatrick skin type. Each treatment plan is tailored by our Naturopathic Doctors to ensure optimal efficacy and safety. Oral nutraceutical support and topical depigmenting agents (such as niacinamide) may be incorporated into a comprehensive aesthetic program.

Glutathione Injections in Edmonton

In addition to IV therapy, glutathione injections are available as a rapid and convenient alternative for patients seeking skin benefits with minimal time commitment. While less intensive than full infusions, glutathione injections still provide meaningful antioxidant and skin support, particularly when used in series or alongside oral and topical adjuncts.

Glutathione IV Therapy in Edmonton - Gluta Drips

Cosmetics - Glutathione does appear to have cosmetic benefit with repeated IV treatment.

IV Glutathione can be used for a wide range of conditions. Our Naturopaths have been administering Glutathione IV Therapy in Edmonton since 2010.

The skin brightening and lightening properties of Glutathione injections are thought to be primarily from stimulation of  pheomelanin (lighter) pigment production.

Our Naturopaths have administered thousands of IV Glutathione treatments at our Edmonton clinic and the incidence of side effects is exceedingly low.

Administration time for a Glutathione drip is short. Our Naturopaths often administer a Glutathione drip over 5-15 minutes with minimal IV dilution.

Glutathione injections or Gluta Drips can be added to many other IVs including IV drips with Vitamins as well as NAD infusions.

Frequency of IV Glutathione injections depends on what we're using the Glutathione IVs for.

For inflammation our Naturopaths often suggest frequent glutathione injections (eg. every other day). Some of the original Glutathione injection literature in Parkinson's has daily IV Glutathione administration.

For skin lightening and brightening our Naturopaths usually suggest 1-2 Glutathione IV Therapy treatments weekly for 4-8 weeks - all done by our nurses in our IV Therapy suite in Edmonton.

Our Naturopaths will give IV NAD+ and IV Glutathione Injections back to back for longevity.

Doses of IV Glutathione injections can range anywhere from 2-4 grams for most patients.

Want Glutathione Injection in Edmonton?

Who ya gonna call?

Background: Glutathione is an anti-oxidant found in all of our cells that has Anti-inflammatory, Detoxification, Immune and Longevity enhancing properties.

Our Naturopathic Doctors have been administering IV Glutathione Therapy in Edmonton since 2010.

Glutathione can have rapid action in conditions with acute inflammation.

We consider its intravenous use in neuroinflammatory issues like MS & Lyme disease as well as localized inflammation such as in Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

Glutathione has become a frequently sought after especially in IV Therapy format for cosmetic purposes as it appears to have skin brightening and lightening effects.

Our Naturopaths often consider Glutathione IV Therapy for mold detoxification, and as an overall health promoting longevity treatment since numerous diseases "of aging" are associated with low Glutathione levels.

The elimination of many xenobiotic compounds can be accomplished through conjugation with Glutathione followed by secretion from cells (such as mercury and persistent organic pollutants).

Glutathione also detoxifies endogenous compounds.

As an example, our Naturopathic doctors often use Glutathione IV Therapy for detoxication from Mycotoxins from mold toxicity.

Case 1: Patient in mid-60's with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

History: Long standing Crohn's disease. Previous exacerbation benefitted from Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

Resumption of Hyperbaric treatment in conjunction with Pentasa was moderately helpful for symptom reduction.

Treatment: Glutathione and Vitamin IV Therapy (a variation of the Myers') caused a rapid improvement in symptoms. IV Glutathione effect seemed to last 3-4 days and was therefore repeated with oral Glutathione added as well.

Summary: Our Naturopaths have extensive experience with Intravenous Glutathione treatment.

The incidence of adverse effects is extremely low in our experience of thousands of Glutathione IV therapy treatments at our Edmonton office.

For cosmetic purposes, IV Glutathione is often given 1-2x weekly for 6-8 weeks.

For acute issues, it is often given every other day until the issue consistently has resolved.

Glutathione IV for Fatigue

When your energy has disappeared and coffee has stopped pulling its weight, it may be time to look beyond caffeine. Glutathione is one of the body's major endogenous antioxidants and plays an important role in protecting cells from oxidative stress. Learn more about our approach to fatigue and how our Edmonton Naturopathic Doctors investigate nutritional, hormonal, thyroid and other potential contributors to low energy. At TruMed, IV glutathione may be incorporated into an individualized IV Therapy Edmonton protocol, either on its own or alongside vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. A glutathione IV infusion provides glutathione intravenously, while some patients may prefer glutathione injections depending on the treatment plan.

Glutathione IV for Women's Health

Women's health involves a constantly changing combination of hormones, nutritional requirements, reproductive health and the demands of everyday life. Glutathione is particularly interesting in this context because antioxidant balance is an important part of normal cellular function. Explore our  women's health approach and how glutathione, IV vitamins and other supportive therapies may fit into an individualized wellness plan. At our Edmonton Naturopathic clinic, a glutathione IV or gluta drip may be combined with vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium or other nutrients when clinically appropriate. Glutathione injections can also be considered for patients who prefer an injection-based approach.

Glutathione IV for Hormones

Hormonal changes can affect energy, mood, sleep, body composition and how well you handle stress. Glutathione doesn't replace hormone therapy, but its role in antioxidant defence and cellular health makes it an interesting component of a broader wellness strategy. Learn more about our approach to hormones and how nutritional, metabolic and lifestyle factors can be addressed alongside appropriate hormone treatment. Depending on the individual, glutathione IV infusions, glutathione injections or a customized gluta drip may be combined with other IV nutrients. For patients exploring longevity and healthy aging, glutathione can also be considered alongside NAD+ and other IV Therapy Edmonton services.

Glutathione IV for Digestive Concerns

Your digestive system can have a surprisingly large impact on how you feel everywhere else. Bloating, IBS, constipation, diarrhea and other gastrointestinal concerns can affect nutrition, energy and quality of life. Learn more about our approach to digestive concerns and how we investigate the underlying factors contributing to gastrointestinal symptoms. Because an IV bypasses the digestive tract, IV glutathione can deliver glutathione without relying on gastrointestinal absorption. A glutathione IV infusion may be combined with selected vitamins and minerals, while glutathione injections provide another option for patients seeking antioxidant support. A gluta drip is supportive therapy—not a substitute for finding out why your gut is unhappy in the first place.

Glutathione IV for Weight Loss & Metabolic Health

There is no magical “melt-the-fat” IV—and if there were, we'd probably all be standing in line. Glutathione is better understood as an antioxidant involved in normal cellular protection and metabolism. Explore our approach to weight loss and metabolic health, where hormones, thyroid function, nutrition, sleep and energy all deserve a seat at the table. For appropriate patients, glutathione IV therapy may be incorporated into a broader wellness protocol alongside IV vitamins, NAD+ and other nutritional therapies. Glutathione injections or a gluta drip may also be considered depending on the treatment plan. The goal is to support overall health rather than pretend glutathione alone is a weight-loss treatment.

Glutathione IV for Thyroid Concerns

Thyroid concerns can affect virtually every aspect of how you feel, from energy and mood to metabolism and concentration. While glutathione does not treat thyroid disease itself, antioxidant balance and cellular health are relevant areas of interest when developing a comprehensive wellness strategy. Learn more about our naturopathic approach to  thyroid health and how we assess thyroid function alongside nutritional and metabolic factors. For selected patients, an IV glutathione infusion or glutathione IV drip may be incorporated alongside appropriate nutritional support. Where thyroid hormone replacement is medically indicated, glutathione IV therapy is complementary rather than a replacement.

Glutathione IV for Skin Health

This is probably the condition most people associate with glutathione—and for good reason: glutathione has become a popular ingredient in the world of skin and beauty treatments. Its antioxidant properties make it particularly interesting for patients interested in supporting healthy-looking skin and overall wellness. Learn more about our approach to skin health and how glutathione IV therapy can be incorporated into an inside-out approach to skin wellness. At TruMed, a glutathione IV, gluta drip or glutathione injections may be considered depending on the patient's goals and treatment plan. Glutathione IV therapy is not a replacement for dermatological treatment, but it can be part of a broader nutritional and antioxidant strategy.

Glutathione IV for Mood & Brain Fog

When you're mentally foggy, fatigued and struggling to stay focused, it can feel like your brain has put itself on airplane mode. Nutritional deficiencies, poor sleep, stress, hormonal changes and chronic health conditions can all contribute. Learn more about our approach to mood and brain fog and how our Edmonton Naturopathic Doctors investigate the factors that may be contributing to these symptoms. Glutathione IV therapy may provide antioxidant support as part of an individualized wellness protocol, and a glutathione infusion may be combined with B vitamins, magnesium or other nutrients. NAD+ may also be considered when cellular energy support is an important component of the treatment plan.

Glutathione IV for Autoimmune Conditions

People with autoimmune conditions often have a lot on their plate, and chronic inflammation can be accompanied by fatigue, nutritional concerns and increased oxidative stress. Glutathione is one of the body's major antioxidant systems, making it an interesting supportive therapy in this setting. Explore our naturopathic approach to autoimmune conditions and how IV Therapy may complement conventional medical care. An IV glutathione infusion, gluta drip or glutathione injection may be incorporated into an individualized treatment plan alongside nutrients such as vitamin C, B vitamins or magnesium. Glutathione IV therapy does not cure autoimmune disease or replace disease-modifying treatment, but it may have a role in supportive wellness care.

Glutathione IV for Fertility

Fertility is ultimately about healthy cells, and antioxidant balance has attracted considerable interest in reproductive health research. Glutathione is an important intracellular antioxidant, which is one reason it continues to be studied in relation to reproductive and cellular health. Learn more about our fertility approach and how we assess hormones, thyroid function, iron status and nutritional factors when preparing for pregnancy. For selected patients, glutathione IV therapy may be incorporated into a broader preconception wellness protocol. Glutathione infusions, glutathione injections and carefully selected vitamin IVs can be considered depending on individual circumstances. Fertility treatment is highly individualized, and glutathione should be viewed as supportive rather than as a stand-alone fertility treatment.

Glutathione IV for Brain Injury & Concussion

Concussion recovery can sometimes feel like it has its own calendar. Brain fog, fatigue, headaches, poor concentration and reduced exercise tolerance may continue after the initial injury. Learn more about our approach to concussion and brain injury and how nutritional and supportive therapies may fit into a broader recovery plan. Glutathione's role as an antioxidant makes IV glutathione an area of interest for patients looking for supportive care following neurological stress or injury. A glutathione IV infusion may be combined with vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium or NAD+ depending on individual needs. Glutathione IV therapy is supportive care and should be used alongside appropriate neurological assessment and rehabilitation.

Glutathione IV for Cancer Support

Glutathione is closely involved in the body's antioxidant and detoxification systems, which has made it a subject of considerable interest in cancer research. At the same time, cancer is an area where more antioxidant support is not automatically better, particularly during certain cancer treatments. Learn more about our supportive cancer-care approach and how IV Therapy is coordinated around, rather than substituted for, conventional oncology treatment. Depending on the patient's diagnosis and treatment plan, a glutathione IV infusion, vitamin IV or other supportive therapy may be considered. Because glutathione can interact with the biology of certain cancer treatments in complex ways, patients undergoing active cancer therapy should have IV glutathione carefully reviewed and coordinated with their oncology team.

Glutathione IV for Multiple Sclerosis

MS can bring fatigue, reduced stamina and a host of other challenges that leave patients searching for additional ways to support their overall health. Glutathione is an important antioxidant involved in cellular protection and has attracted interest in neurological and inflammatory research. Learn more about our naturopathic approach to Multiple Sclerosis and how supportive IV Therapy may fit alongside conventional neurological care. At TruMed, IV glutathione may be included in an individualized protocol, sometimes alongside vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium or NAD+. Glutathione injections and glutathione infusions provide alternative ways of delivering glutathione, depending on the treatment plan. Glutathione is not a cure for MS, but may be considered as part of supportive wellness care.

Glutathione IV for Pediatrics

Children require a very different approach to IV therapy than adults, and “more” certainly does not mean “better.” Learn more about our pediatric care and how our Edmonton Naturopathic Doctors determine whether intravenous nutritional support is appropriate for a child. Glutathione IV therapy is not a routine treatment for healthy children and should only be considered when there is a clear clinical rationale. When appropriate, a carefully selected glutathione infusion or other nutritional IV therapy may be considered under appropriate professional supervision. Glutathione injections and adult-style gluta drips should never simply be transferred from an adult wellness protocol to a child without individualized assessment.

Glutathione IV for Long COVID

Long COVID can leave people feeling like they have never quite returned to their old baseline. Fatigue, brain fog, reduced exercise tolerance and poor recovery are common reasons patients seek supportive therapies. Learn more about our naturopathic approach to Long COVID  and how we investigate nutritional, metabolic and other potentially modifiable contributors to persistent symptoms. Glutathione's antioxidant role makes glutathione IV therapy an option that may be considered within an individualized wellness protocol. A gluta drip, glutathione infusion or glutathione injection may be combined with nutrients such as vitamin C, B vitamins or magnesium depending on the patient's needs. Glutathione is supportive therapy, not a proven cure for Long COVID.

Glutathione IV & Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Glutathione and hyperbaric oxygen therapy may seem like an unusual pairing, but both are frequently discussed in the context of cellular health, recovery and oxidative stress. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy uses increased atmospheric pressure and concentrated oxygen to increase oxygen availability to tissues, while glutathione is one of the body's key antioxidant systems. Learn more about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Edmonton and how HBOT and IV Therapy can be combined in selected recovery and wellness programs. At TruMed, patients may choose IV glutathione, NAD+, vitamins and other IV therapies alongside hyperbaric chamber sessions when appropriate. The therapies work through different mechanisms and should not be viewed as interchangeable, but they can be complementary components of a broader wellness strategy.

Glutathione IV, NAD+ & Longevity

Glutathione and NAD+ are two of the most talked-about IV therapies in the longevity world—and for once, there is some interesting biology behind the hype. Glutathione is a major antioxidant involved in protecting cells from oxidative stress, while NAD+ is a coenzyme involved in cellular energy metabolism and other processes associated with healthy aging. Explore our longevity approach and learn how glutathione IV, NAD+ IV Therapy, hormones, nutrition and lifestyle can fit into a broader healthy-aging strategy. At our Edmonton Naturopathic clinic, a glutathione IV drip may be used alongside NAD+ or other IV vitamins depending on individual goals. Neither is a fountain of youth, but both are interesting tools when they're used thoughtfully rather than as a one-size-fits-all “anti-aging drip.”

Glutathione IV & TRT for Longevity

TRT and glutathione address very different aspects of health, but both can appear in a comprehensive longevity strategy. Testosterone plays important roles in muscle mass, bone health, libido, energy and body composition, while glutathione supports the body's antioxidant systems. Learn more about our TRT and hormone services and how hormone optimization can fit into a broader approach to healthy aging and longevity. For appropriately selected patients with clinically significant testosterone deficiency, TRT may address a genuine hormonal problem, while glutathione IV therapy may provide additional antioxidant support. Glutathione injections, infusions and IV drips are not substitutes for appropriate hormone treatment, and TRT is certainly not something that should be prescribed simply because someone wants to “feel younger.

Evidence-Based Infusion Medicine at TruMed Naturopathic Clinic

At TruMed in Edmonton, our clinical team provides an advanced infusion therapy clinic, including IV vitamin therapy, customized nutrient drips, NAD+ infusions, Glutathione therapy, IV iron treatments, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). These interventions are grounded in biomedical science, designed to bypass gastrointestinal limitations, and deliver bioactive compounds and oxygen directly into systemic circulation.

NAD+ Injections and IV Therapy in Edmonton

Aside from IV Glutathione, Our Naturopaths offer NAD Injection treatments in Edmonton in IV infusion format as well as we also offer subcutaneous NAD injections that patients can take home and administer to themselves in between NAD IVs given at our office.

Common side effects of NAD infusions include: nausea, rapid heart rate and lightheadedness.

A 2017 human study showed that intravenous NAD+ is rapidly and completely removed from the plasma (taken up by cells) for the first two hours of NAD IV administration.

At TruMed, IV NAD+ protocols range from 100–1500mg IV, adjusted according to indication—whether for energy, cognitive function, anti-aging, or addiction recovery. Infusions are often combined with B vitamins, magnesium, and amino acids to optimize mitochondrial pathways and glutathione is easily added to the end of NAD infusions.

Why Choose IV Iron?

After Glutathione, IV iron is our next most popular IV option. Our IV glutathione patients will often do iron infusions with us but we don tend to do them on the same day.

• Rapid Repletion: IV iron bypasses absorption barriers and quickly restores iron stores.

• Better Tolerance: Unlike pills, IV iron does not cause constipation, nausea, or abdominal pain.

• Long-Lasting Effect: A single infusion may restore iron for several months.

Patients often report noticeable improvements in energy, concentration, and exercise tolerance within weeks of treatment.

Who Benefits from IV Iron?

IV iron infusions may be recommended for:

• Iron-deficiency anemia confirmed on blood tests.

• Patients who cannot tolerate oral iron due to gastrointestinal side effects.

• Athletes with high metabolic demands and iron loss through training.

• Women with heavy menstrual cycles, postpartum women, or individuals recovering from surgery.

Our Nurse Practitioner will tailor dosing to your lab results and monitor you throughout treatment to ensure safe, effective repletion.
